Our History

Journey from NYAA to NAG

By Pranaya Lama
September 1, 2010

Namaste,

Nepalese Association of Georgia (NAG), formerly known as Nepalese Youth Association of Atlanta (NYAA) has been a true helping hands for those who are in need, here and back home. NAG has not only served the community in the State of Georgia, USA but has also expanded its arms to reach out the people all over the United States.

Establishing a name, not of an individual but of a whole community in a foreign land, is a tough task. It took lots of time, talent, energy, enthusiasm and above all, the pure willing of togetherness.

Looking back, NYAA was born amongst the friends, at a small gathering nine years ago, 2000. Since then, NYAA has been serving its friends and family here in U.S. as well as in back home. Each and every founder member then, felt a necessity to bind the growing population of Nepalese community in Georgia.

With growing needs of its members, and of the community itself, our association has made many changes through out. The change of the name, from Nepal Youth Association of Atlanta to Nepalese Association of Georgia truly underlines the actions taken to serve our community better.

Its members take pride in our organization. This organization strongly believes that, year after year it will grow into the greater world and do great things.

Sincerely,
NAG Executive Board
